The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the direct support of the utilization management department and providing the clinical consultation and work collaboratively with all SynerMed departments and their affiliates. The Pharmacist will render utilization management decisions that require sound clinical judgement with strict adherence to DMHC turn-around-time (24 hours for exigent, 72 hours for routine regardless of business days) and must have the ability to organize and direct technicians coordinators and case managers in daily workflow. Additionally, the Pharmacist will develop clinical programs to promote appropriate cost effective prescribing, and will support the utilization management criteria development through active participation on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee. Other responsibilities include, overseeing the implementation of utilization management edits, provide ongoing evaluation of existing utilization management programs, design and assist in provider education and drug awareness programs and maintains pharmacological knowledge, by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks by participating in professional societies. REQUIRED: Must have minimum 3 years of current, recent experience as a Pharmacist with an unrestricted pharmacy licenseExperience administering clinical programs to promote appropriate cost effective prescribingAbility to interpret and understand coverage criteria and drug reviews for specialty drugsAbility to serve as the key clinical support person for researching drug inquiriesSupport the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the utilization management programsDevelop and implement a variety of behavior modification principles to influence physicians to prescribe appropriatelyIdentify target physicians, establish credibility and utilize boht verbal and writeen behavior to modify behaviorServe as the key clinical support person for the researching drug inquiriesMust be flexible with change and multi-task and work as a team member without direct supervisionMust be computer literate (MS Office)Good communication skills (written/verbal) EducationBachelors Degree in Pharmacy PREFERREDPharm DManaged Care industry experience
