Nurse Practitioner in BMT provides nursing services to patients undergoing unrelated donor stem cell transplant, primarily in the in-patient setting. The Nurse Practitioner in BMT is an advanced practice nurse who provides nursing and medical services to patients in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. Services include but are not limited to ordering, conducting and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescription of pharmacologic agents and treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies in a cost efficient manner. Works autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage clients’ health care problems. Serve as health care resources, interdisciplinary consultants and patient advocates. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care.
