SummarySenior media buyer will be responsible for all media-buying for assigned territory/geographic area at Walker Advertising and conducts research and planning to determine what is needed. Outstanding research, negotiating skills, and critical thinking are important in this position, as they must be able to recognize valuable opportunities from all angles. Good interpersonal skills, the ability to work well on teams, and an affinity for media are also important.ResponsibilitiesResearches, develops, and plans media for assigned geographic areas.Review invoices from media companies and resolve any discrepancies which includes but is not limited to requesting for compensation for advertisements that do not run when planned.Negotiate/evaluates advertising contracts with media companies to determine pricing and schedules in assigned markets with emphasis on ensuring the company’s advertising rates is low as well as special time parameters, value-added sponsorships, and promotions.Buy media advertising space for assigned geographic area, and provide estimates of audience and costs.Skills/Knowledge/ExperienceMinimum 5 or more years’ experience as a full-charge broadcast media buyer working on large accounts either in an advertising agency or company that has their own in house buying department.Ability work independently and/or work autonomously to achieve and deliver in excess of targetsDegree in advertising, business, media, marketing or related fieldEffective time management and organizational skills to meet aggressive deadline requirements, able to multi-task, strong attention to detail, as well as consistent follow-throughHigh degree of integrity and professionalismStrong mathematical and analytical abilities necessary to identify and explaining variance from goalsThorough understanding and working knowledge of the local media landscapeExcellent negotiation track record and professional verbal/ written communication skillsComprehensive buy stewardship, including timely completion of buys following guidelines, managing the day-to-day buy integrity, pre-posts, posts and restitutionKnowledgeable in the methodology and use of all available broadcast data and related servicesHigh proficiency level in Excel, Strata, Word, Donovan required; fast adaptor to new software training as needed.Experience with delivering on direct-response KPI’s required including Cost Per Lead (CPL) / Cost Per ‘000s (CPM)Experience buying for the Hispanic Market.BENEFITS:Comprehensive and competitive, Walker Advertising offers a well-balanced package of benefits that serves to shape and complement the lives of our employees.
