Under general direction, manages LAN and WAN performance and maintains network security. Installs, maintains and monitors the operation of the network. Evaluates vendor hardware and software products. Recommends and implements network policies and standards, ensuring adherence to security procedures. Maintains contact with outside service providers and vendors.
Install, configure and maintain network equipment and software, such as firewall, routers, switches, DSL/T1 and other modems.
Work with service providers, hardware and software vendors to maintain WAN uptime and continuous connections to our stores and distribution centers.
Assists in presenting to management recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware and software.
Manages network security and network performance.
Establishes and implements network policies, procedures and standards, ensuring conformance with information systems and objectives.
Develops and writes procedures for installation, use and solving problems of communications hardware and software.
Provide backup on phone system support
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Cisco switches and routers
Extreme networks switches
Juniper networks VPN and other appliances
WiFi controllers and security measures
Experience working with network providers for T1, DS3, Fiber
Network design and implementation experience
Partner and other phone systems including VOIP systems
Experience with Disaster Recovery site setup and traffic routing
Education and/or Other Requirements
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer information systems, computer science or related area of study.
Certification and work experience will substitute for formal degree.
