Metal distribution warehouse seeks a Slitter Operator for temp to hire opportunity. Salary range $14.00-$15.00 per hour.
SUMMARY Operate the slitter to process all orders within specified tolerances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safety #1 Slitting Read work orders Pull coils from stock Check tolerances: (thickness, width, burr, camber) at start (ID) and end (OD) of a job Run the material Visually inspect the material during the run Make certain quality decisions Weigh coils and scrap Return unused material to inventory Complete all necessary paperwork: Fabrication Work Order, Final Inspection Sheet, Production Sheet, Shipping Labels, Stock Tags, I.D. Tags (when needed) Necessary Skills: Proper Machine Training Material Knowledge Small Crane Slitter Software Micrometer Calipers Tape Measure Fork Truck Scale Camber Bar Knowledge of tooling Understanding of Slitter head Set up / Procedures Parallel and zero arbors on slitter Write info on O.D. of coil (size, heat) Responsible for shutting down power and following lockout / tagout procedure that pertains to this area. Housekeeping All other duties as requested by supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises one or two employees in the 12" and 24" Slitting area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong knowledge of material being handled. Must be able to use and operate the following equipment and tools; Slitters, Micrometer, Calipers, Tape Measure, Fork Lift Truck, Digital Scales, Camber Bar, and basic computer skills. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
