KIPP LA is currently expanding; over the next five years, we will more than double the number of students we serve and will grow to 20 schools in our region by 2020.Job OverviewThe Building Maintenance Engineer is critical to the successful maintenance of facilities at KIPP LA Schools. Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Building Maintenance Engineer will perform general repairs and maintenance on all building systems as required. Currently we operate 17 facilities, including a mix of owned, long-term leased and short-term leased facilities.This is a full-time position for a candidate with experience in all aspects of building system maintenance and repair. Essential FunctionsEnsure that KIPP LA facilities are in good repair and provide a safe environment for our students and team. Work with the Senior Facilities Manager to implement programs and schedules for preventive maintenance of building components and systems for each facility, including HVAC, fire, plumbing, pest control, etc.Work with the Senior Facilities Manager and Real Estate Coordinator to respond to facilities helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner.General building maintenance work as required including, electro-mechanical, plumbing, painting, drywall and carpentry.Excellent knowledge of proper use of hand toolsQualifications and Desired CharacteristicsHigh school graduate or equivalent.
