Newlie was found as puppy trying to follow a pack of dogs across a busy highway. My Dad once again gave this guy a home. He arrived at my Dad’s house in May of 2007. He was just a tiny, tiny puppy maybe 8 weeks old or so. He used to sleep in a little basket at night next to my Dad’s bed. Newlie has been a healthy and happy dog. However, he is the one that has really grieved with my Dad being gone. While working at my Dad’s house for the first few months, I was there every day and would find Newlie sleeping on my Dad’s bed. His personality has changed a bit and he become even more shy. He has never been very demonstrative. Just happy to be with my Dad in the house. My Dad used to say he was very shy when he would take him for walks and when another person or dog approached he would try and hide behind my Dad. When he was taken to the vet he would hide under the chair and shake. Since my Dad has passed I have tried to socialize him more by bringing people around to meet him, at first he would just shake and bark, but fast forward some months and he is doing much better and loves to be petted and wags his tail all the time now! He goes nuts when he sees me bouncing around and running and making roo…roo….sounds.
Newlie is about 6 years old, neutered, micro chipped and vaccinated and weighs approximately 85 pounds. He is shy at first but I have been having him meet more and more people and have brought other dogs around and he is doing great! He loves, just loves attention and makes “roo roo” sounds if he’s not getting enough attention. I am working on the car rides, he’s a little shy and scared, same with going to the vet. He is doing much better now on walks, but does keep looking up at me to make sure I am still there. He too thinks cats are for chasing so no cats. He seems to do fine with other dogs now, but probably will need a little time to adjust to a new environment, as my Dad’s home is the only one he has know. And this month he turned 6 years old! He used to also sleep on my Dad’s bed. He is house trained and knows how to use a doggie door.he is a love bug and his tail never stops wagging.....he’s awesome...
