Coloring/Weight: Sandy has a beautiful brindle colored coat with the most adorable floppy ears and cute face, her hair is medium length. She is on the slender side, weighing about 45-50 lbs.
Rescue History: Sandy was at first owned by a college student who had every intention of being a good doggy parent – but soon realized with school, work, and a social life, that he had no time for her. Poor Sandy was left alone many hours throughout the day and being a young, fun, spunky puppy so full of life, he realized she deserved more than he could give her. He decided to give her up to rescue.
Personality: Sandy is very puppy-like. She is shy at first when meeting new people or dogs, but soon warms up and is as silly, playful, and goofy as ever. She has been living in a foster home where they are working on her insecurities and to gain her confidence in new situations. Once Sandy loves and trusts, she is devoted and loyal and loving. There is not one ounce of mean or aggressive underneath the uncertainty she sometimes has in new surroundings. Once she feels safe, Sandy is that typical family dog with kids who wants to be part of something bigger than herself. She would be the perfect furry playmate for your kids to roll around with on the floor or play fetch with in the yard. She would fit in perfectly to that fun-loving home environment with kids and visitors. She is a great running partner as well and stays right by your side on leash. Sandy exemplifies the saying “girls just want to have fun” – if she could have it her way, she’d play forever…with a squeaky toy, the kids, fetch with her favorite human, tug of war with a furry friend, anything to enjoy and get the most out of life. and once comfortable is the most enjoyable, happy dog to be around. She is just like a child, full of curiosity and innocence. Once her future family invests some time teaching her the ropes, she will be one perfect dog. This just in, we discovered Sandy loves rain! It's so cute, she walks outside and actually opens her mouth up in the air trying to catch the raindrops. Adorable!
Would do best: Sandy would do best in a home environment with a yard and/or doggy door to let herself in the yard to do her business. She would love a home provides playtime, structure, stimulation, and love. She’d enjoy kids and family and an active lifestyle.
Cats/Dogs/Kids: Sandy enjoys the energy that kids have to offer, her favorite game is playing a gentle game of chase in the yard and running back and forth with them. She is afraid of dogs that she does not know...as she learns they will not hurt her, she is fun & playful. She is fine with cats.
