Siamese - Pearl - Medium - Senior - Female - Cat
Pearl was rescued from Carson Shelter in November of 2011. She is a female, siamese/snowshoe mix, spayed, seventeen years old and an “owner surrender.” When she was rescued, she was suffering from several abscessed teeth, flea dermatitis and pancreatitis. She could not eat any food because of her conditions, so on top of all that, she was slowly starving to death. She stayed in the hospital for a week to get subcutaneous fluids and have the surgery to pull her abscessed teeth. It is only through the kindness of Carson Cats (the rescue agency that saved her and paid the enormous vet bill) that Pearl did not die scared and alone in a high kill shelter.
Pearl is an excellent companion cat. She is mellow, but talkative, which is a trait I have come to love about her. She tends to follow you around the house. She does not prefer to be picked up or held, but she does enjoy being petted and will, on occasion, sit on your lap. She has a sweet habit of sitting right in front of you when you are on the computer and putting her face in your neck. She also likes to lay near sunny windows. When it is cold she sleeps on our receiver (which gets really warm). Pearl would do best in a house with no other cats (if possible) as she likes to be top kitty. She does not like my dogs but she manages to coexist with them just fine.
Although I have taken Pearl out in the backyard to eat grass and soak up the sun, I would never leave her unattended outside. She is not as sharp as she once was and would be slow to notice a predator or other danger. I have also discovered that Pearl is in the very early stages of kidney failure, although since she has been with me and eating better food, I feel that she has improved greatly. Every one and a great while, she will spit up some clear fluid, but that is the extent of it. She is nimble and can still jump up onto couches and countertops. All in all, she is a beautiful cat with a wonderful personality, and I know she will make the right person very happy. She certainly has me won over. :)
If you are interested in adopting this mellow kitty, or if you know someone who might be, please contact me. I am particular about who she goes to now that I have had her this long . . . . I want her remaining years to be with someone who will appreciate her as much as I do.
