Systems Administrator - 1084La Mirada, CADESCRIPTION:Reporting to the Lead Engineer for Systems and Tools, the Systems Administrator supports and maintains a multi-vendor, multi-OS systems environment using Linux, Windows, and OS X. In addition to providing day-to-day technical support for the workstation, VoIP, and server environment, the Systems Administrator collaborates with senior systems staff on complex technical deployment projects. The position requires the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment and balance multiple projects in order to complete them successfully and within expected timelines.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:The bullet points below detail the primary responsibilities and duties of the role. Non-essential responsibilities, those considered peripheral, incidental or a minimal part of the job, are not specified in this section.Track and work requests via ticketing system; perform triage and provide resolution for both internal and external customers, escalating to Senior Systems Administrators as necessary.Deploy and support hardware and software for workstations and servers, including component replacement, auxiliary/peripheral installation, and software installation.Support local and remote user workstation and application issues.Support the organization’s hosted VoIP environment for local and remote users.Audit and deploy OS and application security and feature updates on equipment managed by Systems in consultation with Senior Systems Administrators.Monitor performance, security, and availability of the server environment.Participate in on-call rotation for technical issues and support of the 24x7 production environment.KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experienceAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment and balance multiple projects in order to complete them successfully and within expected timelinesExperience administering DNS in a multi-domain environmentExperience administering common infrastructure applications (e.g.,DHCP servers, web servers, email servers, mailing list servers, etc.)Hands-on systems administration experience in a Linux environment. Experience in a Multi-vendor, multi-OS environment (Linux, Windows, OS X) is preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills, with focus on high quality customer serviceExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentExperience with CentOS and Red Hat Linux virtualization methods preferredExperience with programming and/or building systems automation tools using Perl, Python, PHP, and shell scripting preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Sitting, standing, walking.Work at computer for extended periods.Ability to lift and install heavy (up to 50 lbs.) equipmentAble to work after hours and on weekends for problem resolutions, upgrades, etc.; and occasional overnight travel may be required.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
