Large beverage manufacturing facility seeks a Buyer/ Planner with 3 years experience in the Beverage industry to cover an extended leave.
Summary: The Buyer/Planner will manage all of an organization's vendor relationships, with regards to the purchase of goods and/or services for manufacturing purposes. Initiating contact with prospective vendors, the buyer planner negotiates and enforces every contract term. Once goods and services have been delivered, he/ she will be responsible to create production schedules for the company’s manufacturing department, with the goal of ensuring that all customer demands are met.
Utilizing industry networks and research material, the Buyer/Planner will source new vendors for his/her employer and requests a price quote. She/he negotiates terms as necessary. Once terms have been agreed upon, the Buyer/Planner creates and administers a contractual agreement spelling out the terms of the deal. Throughout the working relationship with the vendor, she/he monitors both the level of service and the quality of products received.
The Buyer/Planner purchases these goods for the manufacturing department of her/his employer. These purchases are used to create or assemble the products that her/his company sells. Once goods have been delivered, the buyer planner creates a production schedule. This schedule is used to track both manufacturing output and customer requests. By maintaining this schedule, the buyer planner ensures that inventory levels are in step with production requirements.
Must be able to interact with a variety of different people, including colleagues, vendors and occasionally clients. It is important that the successful candidate possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. Strong negotiation skills are also imperative to flourish in this role. Often required to work on multiple projects at once. As such, the ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously is desirable. Additionally, technical proficiency on typical office software such as the Microsoft Office Suite in tandem with the ability to quickly learn the proprietary software the employer may utilize is crucial for success in this position.
Education and Experience Requirements
3 + years in the role of Buyer or Planner for a beverage processing or distribution company
College degree preferred, however this is not mandatory. Related industry experience may be substituted for education requirements.
