SUMMARYExperienced manufacturing-based, hands-on senior accountant with profound GAAP knowledge, proficiency on month end closing and analyzing financial data. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Processes and submits full cycle employee weekly and bi-weekly payroll via ADP in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, as well as payroll tax reporting and calculates commissions.LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY - NO RELOCATIONJOB FUNCTION / PURPOSEParticipates and prepares month-end closing, prepares journal entries, ensures sales and returns are properly reported.Updates balance sheet account schedules and reconciles bank statements before closing month.Assists with external and internal financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flow as well as other reports.Maintains policies, procedures and controls necessary to ensure general and cost accounting records in compliance with general accepted accounting principles.Works closely with AR accountant on daily collection process, ensure its effectiveness, and provide weekly AR aging report to senior management.Posts cash receipts daily and process credit memos timely.Maintains fixed asset schedule and prepares depreciation/amortization entries.Analyzes sales, cost of goods and expenses and suggest methods of improving the planning process and cost saving solutions, as appropriate.Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and yearly employee tax reporting and filings.Assists with inventory management and execute inventory write off. Assists in the alignment of inventory costing methods.Calculates and processes monthly commissions.Assists in year-end audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and organization and review of supporting documentation for audit.Supports Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.Processes weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees, including the calculation of deductions and net pay.Processes garnishment and levy deductions and any payroll non-recurring items to comply with company policy and state and federal law;Monitors changes and remains current on legal, regulatory or governmental requirements (e.g., wage and hour, garnishments, employee relocation, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions).Produces payroll reports and performs auditsPerforms additional duties, as assigned by management.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIESBachelor degree in accounting, or equivalent field required.At least 3 years senior accountant experiencePrior experience with the processing of ADP payroll and payroll taxes is requiredADP Workforce Now experience, big plusManufacturing industry experience highly preferred.Previous experience in public accounting & auditing a plusStrong knowledge of GAAP and all aspects of the accounting cycleDetail oriented, adheres to deadlines, excellent communication skillsComputer knowledge/experience (spreadsheets, database and word processing).Advanced knowledge of Excel, financial reporting and GLsMust be able to multi-task during monthly close processesExcellent communication skills.
